The wind had never been quite so angry, so enraged.
Howling under the cloak of night, it couldn’t help but shake windows as it charged by. The wind shifted through the apertures in the trees, pushing with just enough force to cause branches to crack and fall, landing atop of cars and homes.
And with the will of an enemy attacking, the wind called forth its allies.
Thunder and rain followed, drenching lawns, beating down on roofs and windows.
The wind roared forth again, its wrath unrelinquishing.
It fought for its queen, the one so devastated by human ignorance and torture.
The wind barreled through a large oak, and the old tree gave way, collapsing upon a home and a car. Thunder and lightning attacked with great effort, setting ablaze the once vibrant grass and now dying tree leaves.
The wind refused to cease, but it grew weary in its resolve.
No matter the power of its might, the humans had set their ways and climbed their way to the top of everything the wind stood proud for.
The wind had failed its queen, and never had it felt so distressed.
With one last howl, the wind broke, its allies falling back in surrender. The gray clouds began to disperse upon realization that they could not win. Thunder and lightning ceased their attacks and reeled back in disdain for humankind.
Their flames died as rain washed over it. The fire would only destroy the one they were protecting. The army was only doing more harm than good.
Their effort was pointless, but it did not go unnoticed, for their queen smiled down once more.
Her heart in the sky sent down vibrant rays of light to the earth.
A rainbow appeared in the sky; a token of appreciation and gratitude.
Their attempt at retribution admirable, and the army could not be more grateful.
